If you want to grow your business online, and you’ve tried posting on message boards, do you find it hard to follow up?
That’s my biggest problem with networking online. I head out to the message boards one day when it’s at the top of my list, and find several great boards to post on. I provide information, ideas, post it and wait.
But the problem comes the next day, when something else moves up to the top of the list. Suddenly I completely forget about that message I posted. It may be days, weeks (or even months) before I start the task all over again.
I’ve spoken with many people, and know that problem is a familiar one. If you want to build up relationships online, how do you continually make that a priority?
I’ve developed an action worksheet that allows me to prioritize what I do every week. I set up my core actions that must be performed every week. Think of it in some ways as your calendar. If you put a leads group or a chamber of commerce networking function on your calendar, you usually make the time and show up for the couple of hours it takes. By creating an action worksheet, you’re telling yourself what your major accomplishments will be each week.
Begin with 10 core goals that you wish to accomplish every week. Things like:
Send a brochure to 10 new people each week. Post a message on 5 online message boards each week. Spend one hour surfing the Internet for potential leads each week.
They’re not difficult things to do, and they should be easy to work into your daily routine – they’re simply a part of doing business. But by writing them down, and creating an action for them, you are making them as important as the things you mark on your calendar. Write them down, and they will be accomplished.
Everything else is above your core goals. Make sure you complete your core goals every week, and you’ll soon be on the way to a successful business.
