What Domains Should You Own?

October 8, 2004

With the cost of domain names so incredibly inexpensive, why do you own just one?

At this point, you may be asking yourself “Why do I need more than one?” Let me share with you just one scenario.

Let’s say you are at a networking party, discussing your new product, QRS Product. You spend 5 minutes with a prospective customer, and he’s very excited about your product. He doesn’t give you a business card, and loses the one he got from you. When he gets back to the office and remembers your product, he heads to the web for more info. What does he remember? Your name? Your company name? Your product’s name?

That’s why you need to have all of your bases covered.

Your name. Especially as your business grows, and you begin gaining PR coverage about your business, purchase the domain names for every way you list your name.

Your company name. The larger your company, the more likely someone will attempt to ride your coattails. Get your names early to avoid the problems.

Your products. Each of your products should have their own separate domain name. You don’t have to have separate websites for each produc; simply point each domain name to your main site.

Any misspellings? Some names are just easier to misspell than others. If you continually see any of your names misspelled, buy up those domains too!

On SnapMonkey.com, you can own a domain name for under $9 a year! What are you waiting for? Click here to sign up a new domain TODAY!
